Mayor Brenda Locke has officially announced she is seeking re-election as Mayor of Surrey under the Surrey Connect banner in the October 2026 municipal election.

Locke was first elected Mayor of Surrey on October 15, 2022, defeating incumbent Doug McCallum and leading Surrey Connect to 4 of 8 council seats. She is running again alongside incumbent councillors Harry Bains, Gord Hepner, Pardeep Kooner, and Rob Stutt, as well as two new candidates Rona Tepper and Noemi Victorino.

A Record of Delivery

Since taking office, Mayor Locke and the Surrey Connect team have delivered results Surrey families can see and feel. The city committed close to $300 million in major transportation infrastructure, cut residential permit approvals from 16 weeks down to 4, hired 140 new police officers, and helped generate over 40,000 jobs and welcomed more than 8,200 new businesses.

Major projects including the Cloverdale Sports and Ice Complex, the $310 million Newton Community Centre, and the City Centre Entertainment District are all moving forward under her leadership.

Surrey is Rising

In her announcement, Mayor Locke spoke directly to Surrey residents: "People often ask me what my vision is, but it is not my vision, it is your vision. Together we have and will continue to set a path of success for Surrey. Surrey is not just growing. Surrey is rising."

All of this has been achieved while maintaining a 2.6 percent proposed property tax increase for 2026, one of the lowest in Metro Vancouver.
